ELIGIBILITY
Masters degree or equivalent in relevant subject from any recognized University in India or abroad scoring not less than 55 % marks or 6.0/10 CGPA in aggregate.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
1. All candidates will have to appear in the Entrance Test and Interview process to be administered by the University.
2. Candidates who have passed NET/SET/JRF/M.Phil. or are UGC/CSIR/NBHM fellows will be exempted from the entrance test. However, such candidates shall have to go through the presentation and interview process.
ADMISSION / REGISTRATION
All the selected candidates, as approved by the Research Degree Committee (RDC), shall be registered and given a provisional admission to Ph.D. programme after payment of prescribed fees and submission of necessary documents.
PROGRAMME DURATION
The minimum duration for the Ph.D. programme shall be two years/four semesters from the date of confirmation of the registration for the programme to the date of submission of the thesis. However, a research student may be given relaxation up to six months in the above period allowing pre-submission of the thesis, provided he/she produces sufficient evidences of having done prior research work resulting in publication of research papers in refereed journals/conference proceedings in his/her area of research. Towards this, a research student has to make a special request, through his/her supervisor, to the Dean - Research for permitting early submission of the thesis. The final approval for the same shall be given by the Vice Chancellor, on the recommendation of the Dean - Research.
Maximum duration of Ph.D. programme is five years/ten semesters from the date of registration to the date of submission of the thesis. However, the maximum period for submission of thesis may be extended by not more than one year by the competent authority, under special considerations, on a written request by the student duly forwarded by his/her supervisor and recommended by the Dean - Research.

CONFIRMATION OF REGISTRATION
A student shall be formally registered as a candidate for the Ph.D. programme after he/she has complied with the following:
1. has passed the Pre-Ph.D. examination,
2. has submitted a research proposal duly recommended by supervisor(s) and approved by the RDC.
